X3F readers will recall that Falling Leaf was preparing to save Windows XP gamers a lot of cash by making the Windows Vista versions of Shadowrun and Halo 2 compatible with XP. Unfortunately for Falling Leaf, the hacking group Razor 1911 has already cracked* Shadowrun according to the Inquirer. Apparently, all the crack does is overwrite a few files in the installation directory. It should be noted that the crack only allows for single player against bots and multiplayer over LAN. As far as we know, online multiplayer is still restricted to Vista.
Falling Leaf expects its solution to arrive in late July.

becuase windows xp was not able to link your gamertag and allow achievements and play cross platform. Microsoft tried implimenting it but foound that ut couldnt be done by software so they desided to impliment it in vista from the start soon you will be able to access your friends list and join privite matches from your side bar. Plus home preimum is really not that expensive and you would probly pay more than premimum just to upgade your pc to play thes games on xp.

I dont get why people are so angry about not being able to play two games they probably already have on their Xbox/360's, on their XP box. This kind of hacking, wouldn't it the the same as some crazy GTA fan, hacking GTA 4, so they can play the PS3 version on their PS2 (I know that would be impossible), as they think Sony suck for trying to charge so much for the PS3, and 'forcing' them to purchase a PS3 just to carry on playing their beloved GTA, a game they've exclusively been able to play on the PS2 so far.
Yes its a matter of software (XP, Vista) vs hardware (PS2, PS3), but still, so what.

If I was Mitch Gitelmen I'd be PISSED.
They could have marketed Shadowrun to the entire PC market and didn't to push Vista?
Or at least I'd be pissed if I hadn't been in the meeting when the call was made.

@ #2.
a: Bullshit. and b? Exactly, people had to pay for the game, the os, and the hardware upgrade to play half a game that could'a ran on XP.
Even if what you say is true, Microsoft made a pariah out of FASA over pushing a feature that NOBODY cares about outside of Redmond.
