The Darkness game's latest
MySpace blog update, Lord Sonatine talks about the demo being delayed and that it is still coming, albeit a few weeks late. The blog confirms that the demo will be headed to Microsoft certification sometime this week and go through the two plus week process of getting approved. So, we'll have to be a patient bunch. Lord Sonatine also reiterated that
The Darkness demo wasn't intentionally held back like some conspiracy theorists have expressed and that the real reason for the delay was because the retail version was at "
risk of being late and missing the release date by a week or two. So we pulled people off the demo to work on the game". See, it's as simple as that.

I am excited about this game, however the lack of a demo before the release and the fact that it is a new game franchise makes me very skeptical about buying it the day it comes out. It may just have to wait till I see a demo. Or some hands on reviews. For all I know it'll be like Prey and Ur character never really dies and that would be redundant and challengless.

Eh. I don't have the money to buy it on release anyway. Though I am completely hyped up about this game. The Darkness has been the one game that I haven't heard a whole lot about, but I really want it.
I really like some of the subtle effects in this game. Raising your weapons when you come towards a wall, aiming in two directions and that awesome smoke effect that comes from the business end of the pistol after you've shot.
Not to mention I've been waiting for some Mafia goodness, and mixing it with some Doom / FEAR styled gameplay is really the icing on the cake.
