It was
rumored, but ultimately the E3
Gears of War sequel announcement was just that ... a rumor. Beyond Unreal contacted Mark Rein about the possibility that a
Gears of War sequel would be announced at this year's E3 and his response was somewhere along the lines of no. "
We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year" Rein responded and reinforced their commitment to
Gears of War's DLC by stating that "
we're still working on the first one".
As fans of the
Gears franchise we're more than fine with no new news at E3. Microsoft's E3 spiel will more than likely be about
Halo 3 and other third party titles, so
Gears news really isn't necessary. So Epic, you just take your time and put together one of the most rockin'
Gears of War 2 announcement trailers ever and take comfort in knowing that you have the support of at least one blogger around these parts.

This does sound like more DLC will be announced at E3, however, and that's just as exciting. I love this game, and I think we're very fortunate to have Epic devote so much time to it..

1. I really doubt they're going to put out more DLC. I bet on it.
2. Sounds like a play on words to me.....seeing how its not called E3 anymore, but EIEIO. Lets hope I'm right on this.

No, they're announcing the trilogy. I kid (and hope.)
Anyhow, I'm definitely looking forward to the SP in Gears 2 more than Halo 3 at the moment (though I'm firmly within the H3 camp when it comes to multiplayer). Gears' single player was one of the coolest gaming experiences I've had in a long, long time.

The DownLoadable Content for Gears of War is pretty AWESOME!
Gears of War is approaching 4 million copies that have been sold because it's such an amazingly fun game with amazing graphics!
I'm looking forward to Mass Effect, Halo 3, Bioshock, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Grand Theft Auto 4 for Xbox 360.
Until then, I will LOVE to keep playing Crackdown, Lost Planet, and Gears of War.

I'm still playing GoW. I've played the single player campaign twice on Hardcore and I'm half way through Insane...
and my friends and I rediscovered playing online.
I'm sure they'll have a few more maps by the end of the year, and maybe a new gameplay style (Deathmatch?)

While an announcement would be good, Gears 1 will tide me over until Halo 3 and I'm sure Halo 3 will keep me busy until it finally is announced.

I think the fact that it'd be difficult to find any article on X3F of Gears fans clamoring for the sequel (little to none) shows how committed to DLC Epic is. I wouldn't be surprised if they release one more content pack, free or not, to the masses.
Aside from the weird glitches, I love this game. And yes, I can definitely wait for news of the sequel.
