Last November, just prior to Halo's birthday, we (wildly) speculated that Marathon might be heading to Xbox Live Arcade. Obviously, we were incorrect ... then. It seems our precognitive powers were even more potent than we realized, as Marathon, Bungie classic and spiritual predecessor to Halo, has been rated by the USK (Germany's ratings board) for the Xbox 360. To be precise, the entry is for Marathon: Durandal, which is actually Marathon 2. This leaves us to wonder whether the original will make the jump as well. Already our minds are reeling with yet more speculation. Will Marathon: Durandal receive a graphical upgrade? Will we see each game in the series hit Xbox Live Arcade, leading up to the inevitable release of Halo 3? We have no idea, but we hope we'll be hearing more soon.

Microsoft should stop porting old bad games and start making more original xbox live arcade games. Some ports are fun, like the classics, but I would rather see more original games than ports, especially ones only being used to promote another game.

Ports are fine for rare, hard to find, and games that would be best suited for the new systems (perfect dark + dual analog, anyone?).
I'm looking forward to this as I never had a chance to play it and it looks fun.

This is one of the best FPS games of the early 90s, period. Way better than Doom or Duke3D for my money. You can already download this game for Mac, Windows, and Linux for free though http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/
so for us to pay for it on 360 I'm assuming some type of graphics upgrade that would make running it on a 360 more compelling than AlephOne...otherwise I don't see the point, unless alot of people start playing it on Xbox Live. If thats the case, then I have only one thing to say:
If I had a Rocket Launcher, I'd make somebody Pay.

if M$ charges for this it would be absolutely freaking ridiculous, as others have pointed out this has been freeware for several years.
although it seems that the marketplace has a penchant for charging for stuff that is free everywhere else.

@8 nah I thought they'd said that it would be in the Halo3 engine, more like the gears golf mode that never got released. Besides marathon is a full game, not a mini game so... nah.
This should be an awesome addition to the arcade, but still, lets hope for a lot of original games sometime soon :D
