CMT, Logo and anime coming to XBLM

Microsoft just announced that two new television networks have signed up to offer television content on the XBLM. Starting June 6th Country Music Television programming will be available on the Marketplaces and June 11th MTV's gay/bisexual/trans-gender Logo programming will go live. Microsoft also announced that starting June 12th, two of the biggest anime distributors in the US (FUNimation and Geneon Entertainment) will be offering content on the Marketplace from shows like "Samurai 7", "Trinity Blood", and "Gun Sword". And if that doesn't wet your appetite, for the month of June new movies will be available on the Marketplace in HD including Shooter, Letters from Iwo Jima, and Black Snake Moan. It's a new content jamboree! Full press release after the break.

Broad range of New Content Coming on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, the Television and Movie Download Service with Something for Everyone

Xbox 360 becomes the first gaming console to offer content from Logo, MTV Networks' channel for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience; top anime distributors and CMT, the nation's #1 country music network

With 7,000 pieces of gaming and entertainment content and counting, Xbox LIVE Marketplace continues to grow as the only online service that offers high definition movies and TV shows for download. This June, the catalogue of content gets even better. With more than 15 entertainment partners, Xbox LIVE offers U.S. members at any age or gender a diverse array of great programming at the click of a button.

After having huge success on Xbox LIVE Marketplace with content from MTV, Comedy Central and VH1, this month MTV Networks is bringing two more properties to the service:

Country Music Television On June 6, country music fans on Xbox LIVE will enjoy a great lineup of TV shows from CMT, the #1 country music network in the nation. Fans can download the first seasons of hit shows such as, "Comedy Stage," "Foxworthy's Big Night Out" and "Prankville" starting tomorrow, with more series and episodes rolling out this summer.
Logo On June 11, Xbox 360 will become the first gaming console to offer content from Logo, the network for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience from MTV Networks. Xbox LIVE will offer a bevy of popular Logo shows, from comedies "Wisecrack," and "The Big Gay Sketch Show," to scripted dramas like "Noah's Arc," and other programs including, "Curl Girls" and "Real Momentum Documentaries."

Beginning June 12, two of the biggest anime distributors in the US will join current Xbox LIVE partner ADV Films with popular shows, movies, gamer pics and themes, making LIVE Marketplace an unparalleled online source for quality anime content:

FUNimation The epic adventure series "Samurai 7," adapted from Akira Kurosawa's legendry film "Seven Samurai," is coming to Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also coming from FUNimation: "Trinity Blood," "Gunslinger Girl," and "Basilisk."
Geneon Entertainment Die-hard fans and those new to the genre alike will enjoy the U.S. HD debut of the anime classic "Akira," available exclusively from Geneon on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also available from Geneon Entertainment at launch: "Gun Sword," "Last Exile," "Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Lupin the 3rd."

June will also bring award-winning films and blockbuster hits to Xbox LIVE Marketplace, starting with 'Team America World Police,' which launched in HD on the service on June 1st. Other top new films coming this month include:

Dreamgirls
Letters from Iwo Jima
Shooter
Black Snake Moan
Pan's Labyrinth

Has anyone at 360fanboy done any investigative work regarding the addition of subtitles to downloadable content?

I have a foreign wife who likes to be able to read the subtitles when we watch movies together, and this prevents me from rent more from XBL.

On the Xbox Forums there is a significant demand from the deaf community too for this capability, could someone over there call Major Nelson and get the scoop?

Thanks!

I find it kinda odd that someone seems to think that gay humor is incompatible with straight humor to the degree that it necessitates dedicated shows.

They can keep their god-awful anime, but I've no doubt it'll be bought up by the truckload. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks every episode of any given show looks much the same. (Energy balls being thrown everywhere).

I do not care for anime much at all, but a majority is nothing like that. It's like anything else... if you just take a passing look at the mainstream stuff, you're going to see a lot of the same. Anime certainly has its share of well done stuff that doesn't involve energy balls lol.

You know, if some of you people gave anime a chance you might find certain shows you like. I used to hate anime until I caught Adult Swim for the first time. I don't recall an "energy ball" in Cowboy Bebop. Yeah, funky name, but it kicks some major ass. In fact, most anime is based in modern societies with true physics. It's not all swords and sorcery. There's a little bit of everything. Action, adventure, comedy, drama, high school comedy, high school drama, science fantasy, science fiction, and thousands more. Just have an open mind. The same goes for the LOGO network. I don't watch it personally but there is really nothing wrong with being bi, les, or gay. Especially if you're not religious, as ccc stated. If ignorance is bliss he must be in paradise.

I agree with aaronsmethurst, they need to get subtitled anime on there somehow, be it a separate download or a menu option.
And in the same vein, just get subtitles on all the movies. It couldn't add that much to the downloadable file size.

Could we just have this guy banned and get it all over with? Isn't their a policy on defamatory and vulgar comments? And before you say anything... no I'm not gay. Yes, I'm a guy. Yes, I can take some verbal (or in this case textual) abuse. It's just that there is a fine line between stating your opinion and, well, just being an ass. You sir are an ass. People have different opinions, doesn't mean everybody who thinks homosexuals have rights are homosexuals. I certainly am not. Nobody is telling you to buy this content. They are simply providing a choice for the multitude of gamers. I don't watch CMT. Do I boycott them? No. Hey, my best friend listens to Eminem. Quite frankly I think Eminem sucks, but he's still my best friend.

First of all, when you play a game over Xbox Live you don't see the ads anyway. Secondly, DON'T BUY THIS SHIT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT! Damn, now you guys are just being ignorant on purpose. Makes me sick. Don't like homos, don't be their friends. And I'll tell you who wants to watch this from XBLM... THE GUYS WHO WATCH THE NETWORK AND PLAY GAMES! What? Now only straight american males can play video games? Just get the fuck over it!And I hardly ever see this shit in mainstream TV. That's thing though, mainstream TV isn't just geared toward straight people. IT'S FOR EVERYONE! The funny thing is... you probably get off on lesbians...
