C&C3 raises Kane on Marketplace

Still on the fence about picking up Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars? Maybe some cheesy into-the-camera monologues will change your mind. The NOD characters trailer is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace, featuring everyone's favorite fanatical warlord, Kane. You'll also get a brief look at the other main characters in the NOD campaign, including other aggressively named characters like Kilian Qatar. On the other hand, if evil doesn't do it for you, maybe you'd rather check out the GDI (read: "the good guys") campaign intro. You can find it after the break.

Anyone out there pick up C&C3 yet?

I don't know, the controls still feel a bit wonky to me.

Yeah I picked up C&C3 for the PC before anything. I've been a die-hard in the C&C universe: was part of the original following back in 95, was pissed like everyone else when Tiberium Sun took 5 years to come out (thank you EA and your Red Alert idears). As for C&C3: Quite a disappointment actually. Unless you're playing on the hardest difficulty, the AI seldom puts up a challenge. There is a mission here or there that makes you think, but nothing really challenging like what we had with the Old C&C games. Maybe that's because we know the gameplay already? Regardless, there are about a dozen missions for each side. GDI has alternate endings, neither of which are very satisfying. And Nod's ending builds you up to really expect something cool and then you're completely let down. Once you beat both, as ya'll know, you get to play as the alien's that invade Earth. Big whoop: a 6 mission campaign with neither cheesy-cinematics nor worthwhile challenges.

All of this makes me nostalgic for the Red Alert days of impossible missions and desperate attempts to keep your base alive. Maybe there's more functionality built into the Multiplayer? At least those cenematics were crappy-enough quality where you could believe that the blinking lights and multi-CD players were actually high-tech equipment helping to aid the war effort.

As far as gameplay, if you've played C&C: Generals, this will be a walk in the park. Same engine, pretty much the same controls. A few new units, but everything pretty much has a new name, but no real functionality. Playing with keyboard and mouse is cool, not sure how that'll be tackled with the 360, especially if the game already leaves something to be desired.

I dunno. I was really excited for C&C3 to come out, then overwhelmingly disappointed. I would say hold off on buying until you play the demo. If you have trouble with the demo, and it presents a challenge, you'll love the game. Otherwise, save your money for a 360 faceplate.
