Look what we have here, another big video game intellectual property destined for the big screen. Variety is reporting that the
Gears of War movie rights have been purchased by New Line Cinema with Stuart Beattie writing the screenplay and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey producing. We figured
Gears of War was destined for the movies, you know, since it has sold a crapload of games and is uber popular. Let's just hope the movie does the game justice and doesn't end up like our beloved
Halo movie ... which we
will be seeing someday (hopefully). Good job Epic Games and feel free to send us pictures of your entire development team rolling around in stacks of your newly earned greenbacks.

Well, if they take a reasonable approach- i.e., letting the studio have some input into the movie they're paying for, unlike Bungie- then it should get made with no problem. I highly doubt it will be full CG- maybe 80 percent, ala 300.

First Halo (still in the works) and now Gears of War. Both titles exclusive to Xbox 360 going to the silver screen. Are there any titles from PS3 that have will be transitioning to the big screen?? Hmmm...

Why would you want to make a Gears movie? The story blew giant sweaty dog balls.

most likely it'll be a prequel to the game like when emergence day append and Marcus maybe wont even be a huge character in the game, much like what I'm hoping halo movie to be like so people understand what happened.

But there is no sequel confirmed for this game. Please, let's make that clear. Over 3 million copies sold and movie rights sold to New Line, but no sequel confirmed. ;-)

First of all, the movie is barely in developement, so calm your socks down. Also there will be at least a Trilogy for the Gears Game, development of 2 is happening right now. And the Lead people have said that why stop at a Trilogy, like Mario Brothers, Tom Clancy series, and like Epics own, Unreal game (Which they have made 4 already) by the way, gears has blown Unreal (The game) out of the water, so Yes there definitely making more, game companies make games to make money, as long as they make money they will make Gears. Period.
Also I heard the lead designer in the beginning say it will be a trilogy, look how they left the end of the game, if you finished it.
