While Bungie's Weekly Update had a slew of goodies for you to get excited about Halo 3, they also touched on the $30 increase in price for the Legendary Edition. They more or less apologized for the misleading initial price point, and assured us that the final product will be definitely worth every penny, especially to those who are die hard Halo fans. They even revealed that the Legendary Edition is limited enough to warrant Bungie staff pre-ordering their own copies, and that each one is individually numbered. So, with that coming from them, does it change your opinion on the thirty dollar discrepancy?

Bungie then told Halo fanboys to off themselves and so they did, in record numbers...
there's "supporting your own product"...and then there's "shameless ploy".
Wow, they're numbered...that means I gotta get one now or I could miss out on teh something!

That's too expensive. I want the bonus DVD's, but I don't want that waste of a space helmet (even if it is quite cool).

collector editions are always lame, fake tin boxes, stupid trinkets, just give the game and a standard green case

Hell no.
I've preordered a legendary for me, a collectors for the wife, and two regulars for my kids. Doesn't change a thing for me.

I love playing Halo 2 and all, but I see no reason to go all "collector" with it. The story and characters aren't all that original or interesting.
Then again, if it was Arbiter's head instead of Master Chief's...I think it'd be an interesting display piece. I'll take an ALIENS bust over it any day though. ;)

I have yet to pay the full $60 bucks for a 360 game (I always wait for specials) So I don't think I will ever pay $130 for one (especially when I can buy a DSLite instead). then again, I'm just a casual gamer.

I AM NOT paying US$70 more for a plastic toy, a book with artwork and DVD's of blogumentaries that will be easily downloadable on torrents the second it hits the stores.
And I AM a die hard fan, but pretty much all other crappy special, collector, limited edition that M$ approved burned me out and made me fell stupid giving away US$10 for nothing worth.
Olny limited that I liked was Oblivion's that gave me a BOOK with dozens of pages with WORDS not stupid artworks.
The coin is ok, but still a US$0,50 toy and I HATE the paper/tin boxes that don't fit/ mess up with the space on my DVD racks.
I'm getting the US$59.99 "spartan" version of Halo 3 and proud of my choice.

At $100 it was border-line, forget about it at $130. The "spartan" version for me as well. Now if the helmet was anodized metal with a glass visor (sort of like the stuff NASA uses in their space suits) it might be worth it. The sad thing is people are actually going to buy it...

Everything is relative. Sure, 130 bucks is a crapload of money to spend on a game, but this isn't just any other game, and I think that has become very apparent with the hype it is receiving, mostly fan-made hype, and we are still about 6 to 8 months away from a release! I am going to get the Legendary Edition because I consider myself a massive halo fan, save up the extra money by not buying a game I normally might have, but to me it's worth it. Halo 3 only comes along once, and if it is half as good as it sounds like it will be then we are in for a real treat as it should be one of the greatest games of all time!
