Last week the policy for Gamerscore and Achievements was standardized to make sure that gamers got a full 1000 points per retail game, with downloadable content able to bring in an extra 250 points. In Episode 2 of our podcast we mentioned Shivering Isles being a fine example of giving Achievements on top of the game's original 1000. Well, now it's official, Oblivion's Shivering Isles expansion will have an additional 10 Achievements worth 250 Gamerscore bringing it to a total of 1250. This marks the first game to have more than 1000 available Gamerscore, and hopefully will set the proper standard for other developers to follow. So, with the promise of more Achievements, are you more interested in getting the Shivering Isles expansion, or does it even matter?

I'll be definitley getting the Shivering Isles (Ilses!) expansion, its good to know that you're getting rewarded with points and it'll be nice to hear that satisfying noise again whilst playing Oblivion. Does SI using up the full 250 extra points mean that this is a definite full stop in the Oblivion universe?

That's good NEWS! Now we just need Hawaiian Punch or another advertiser to sponsor it so we can get it for FREE! But if no sponsor, still well worth it, well, depending on the price point they sell it for of course.

Sadly the achievements matter to me... Spent about 2 hours playing Sneak King ONLY for the points. Life of an achievment whore. My wife kept asking me what kind of moronic game I was playing. I think the King has that effect on people. :)
Regardless good that Shivering Peaks comes with it. More complete a package that way.

Awesome... new content and more points. I still haven't touched the Knight of the Nine stuff so I'll have a bunch of new stuff when I get back into it.

It's sad I know, but this has probably swung it for me - I'm proud of my 100% Oblivion score, so I'll download the content just to earn the extra points. Not that I need an excuse to jump back into Oblivion...

The expansion is gonna be good regardless of the extra points... it's nice to have it there, but the absence of achievements wouldn't have kept me from buying it.

"keep diong this to the consomers and ac points will eventually mean nothing!!"
sorry to break it to ya kid, but they mean nothing now. don't get me wrong, i enjoy getting them, kinda gives me a sense of accomplishment for playing the game. but at the end of the day, they are meaningless.

This is not fair to the people that have spent many months playing this game and to have ac points for downloadable content. I am a ac point whore also but thats besides the point.
( slow death to ps3 please)

Achievement points mean so little to me that I am not ever sure what the point of them is. I would buy the expansion even if it took points away from me.
