Ghostbusters heading to 360? [update 1]
Update: The Ghostbusters game is real folks, and it's being developed on 360. Find more details here.
It's a quiet dream of ours to play Ghostbusters on the Xbox 360. At first we hoped for an Xbox Live Arcade port of one of the retro versions, but this video has sent us into a downright frenzy for a new gen release. The video featured above (posted by user bostjanzoot) shows off a Ghostbuster running around New York and generally kicking some ghoulish ass. The video also shows off some destructible environments and decent lighting effects. The game is supposedly being developed by Slovenian developer, ZootFly. ZootFly's servers seem to be getting hammered in the wake of this discovery, but we managed to discover that ZootFly is working on PC and 360 projects, so it's possible that a Ghostbusters game would make it to our beloved console. Also worth noting, bostjanzoot claims to be from Slovenia and there is a Bostjan listed as a ZootFly manager on the developer's website. We've contacted the developer for confirmation.
Until then, sit tight and dream of busting ghosts in high definition. Check out the other videos after the break.
Sweet ecto model for your enjoyment.
An ecto chase seen.
Who ya gonna call? We heart Bill Murray.

in the official pic to go with this footage, there is a GEARS OF WAR LOCUST face in the top right of the picture.
this makes me think it is a GEARS OF WAR MOD or a FAKE. see the pic at the link below:

The fact that a) that's not the *actual* ghostbosters logo, b) that's not the what the guns looked like, c) that's not what the car looked like, and d) they used an audio clip from the movie instead of a new sample makes me think something is very fishy about this...

Its distinctly a HL2 mod or a "fake":
Quoted from somebody else at joystiq who said it more coherently than i did:
----------------------------------------------
42. Ok, first of all, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A GOW MOD!
NONE! THERE IS NO SDK AVAILABLE! THERE IS NO WAY TO MOD THE 360!
Now, someone said the source code may have gone to another developer. But that wouldn't be a mod! And they wouldn't give the source code! Another developer would get the Unreal Engine 3 to build a game on, not the Gears of War source code. Why would Epic give away something worth that much money? Yeah, it looks like the Gears locust in the top right, somewhat, doesn't mean it is.
Also, people are really jumping on this being GOW due to the camera angle, but nothing else looks very Gearsish. Yes, the camera angle does, but they were just ripping off CNN war footage, and we've known about this for over a year now. There's an excellent chance other people started working on similar ideas after seeing GOW footage a long, long, long, long, long time ago. And, as others have mentioned, it's probably not even this, the guy controlling the camera is pointing it to the sky. Fire up Max Payne and run with the camera pointing up, see if it looks like Gears...
My money would have been on HL2 as well.
And a mod. It does NOT look terribly impressive. The art for somethings does, but the explosions don't look particularly current and the world looks like a city block placed inside of a box, small and constrained with absolutely no life.
Doesn't mean it can't be fun. But it doesn't look very good. It reminds me of a shinier version of the Godfather game, which also felt restrained and lifeless.
But do any of you understand how modding works?
Ok, there's absolutely a good chance Microsoft would decide mods are a great way to go and release on on Xbox Live. But it would be made by an official team, not amateurs. But no official team is getting the Ghostbusters license for a mod. For one, I'd imagine the Ghostbusters license is already owned. For another, I'd imagine there's no chance in hell they'd use it for a simple mod instead of a full-blown game. And Epic won't just let people take Gears and base games off of it. They'd give the Unreal Engine 3 and tell people to make their own damn game.

Please change the car - that one just doesn't look good at all. The one from the movies is iconic!!! This otherwise looks fantastic!!

Anyone else notice GB has recently been playing on cable a lot more than last year? I've watched it at least 3 times in the last month. Also, The model of ECTO 1(2? 3?) is a fairly accurate representation of a Chrysler 300 from the front and a Dodge Magnum from the back. I think that sort of thing would need to be licensed from the auto manufacturer (ala NFS or ) My (totally uninformed, unwarranted and highly inaccurate) theory: New ghostbusters movie/tv/cartoon license. I don't care where it came from, though. I want it!

:29 seconds in is a Bill Murray clip, which I can't figure out what its from, if its not original (Murray was a leading force behind the no-chance of GB3)
Also, the s happens and who are you gonna call clip was resampled from GB2's courtroom scene to a press conference, someone has been hard at work on this bad boy.

If this is in fact a real Ghostbusters game and not a mod, then it's sole survival will be held on wether they can get the cast's voices and likeness in the game.

As alluded to, this is the Unreal 3 engine - roadie-cam straight out of gears and the car models are from R6:Vegas.
My guess: when developers license U3, Epic probably throws in a few test 3D models for placeholders. But the architecture and animation are top-notch - my vote is that this is a legit yet-to-be-announced title.

intR, that is wrong. The game runs on Xubl 2, the in-house engine of Zootfly. There is no roadie-cam, it's just similar. The car models are not from Rainbow Six Vegas. The developers have not licensed U3. Epic has nothing to do with this. IGN and Gamespot and whoever else you'd like to throw in there, already has an article about Zootfly and this Ghostbusters game.
