After snooping around Xbox 360 Achievements we found one game's achievements to be rather interesting. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has been out for a long time and now it has just came to our attention that its achievement point totals are extremely odd. Take a look at the whole list of them, notice anything a little weird? If you look closely you'll notice that there are achievements that award you Gamerscore points listed at 2, 8, 16, 24, 28 and 32. We've never seen any games offer such odd Gamerscore point totals, usually they are in increments of five, never being as odd as these. Are we missing something here or are there other games out with such odd Gamerscore point totals attached to achievements? Microsoft, don't let them do this to our nice rounded multiples of five ... it's just not right.Wait ... what's up with GRAW's achievements?

Hey, thanks a lot for the mention...
To answer your question, Some other games including Mortal Kombat (with a 12 point achievement) and more recently Blitz: The League (with 6 and 69 point achievements). So, GRAW is not alone...

I hated so much that GRAW got me off of the 0/5 convention that I bought and played Ridge Racer 6 *just* so I could get back to 0/5... one of the RR6 7-point achievements combined quite nicely with my GRAW achievements to get me back on multiples of 5. I agree that achievements should be multiples of 5, ALWAYS.

I think it's to add some variation to gamerscores, so that you don't have a glut of even numbers.
So for example, instead of accounts with scores totalling 1000, 1500, 2000... you have 1007, 1029, 1493, 2012, etc etc
I have a friend where we play competitively, where I'll beat his score or vice versa, and there's times I'll go to bed, having a higher score, only to wake up in the morning and see he's beaten me by something like 2 points overall because he was playing GRAW.

To #10: LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II has 705, Condemned has 970, and Tiger Woods 06 has 960. I don't own, and have not played, TW06, so I'm not 100% on that one, but I am 100% on the other 2.

You know, for being "Xbox 360 Fanboys" and all, you really missed the boat on this one. There are quite a number of games that have oddball achievement gamerscore numbers.
But you know that now, as people have already pointed out.
I just felt the need to give you one more poke in the rib :)

I like it. Restricting achievements to multiples of 5 can throw the balance of the achievements off. For example, say a game has 5 points for getting 50 kills with a sniper and 5 points for getting 50 kills with a rocket launcher. One's obviously a little easier, yet they award the same amount of points. Make it more like 7 for sniping and 3 for rockets and it's a little more even. Although, I doubt most developers will ever take the time to work out more "accurate" achievement scores.
I'm predicting Halo 3 will have odd points handouts, mainly because they love the number 7. They'll want some achievements to hand out 7 (or 14, 28, etc) points. You just wait!
