Since the release of downloadable TV and movie content on the XBLM I have yet to download a single episode or movie. I'm not really certain why I haven't taken part in the download service, because it is quite easy. Though, it's probably because I'm not a huge home movie watching kind of guy and I'm not uber obsessed with current TV shows (although South Park does roxorz). The pricing structure isn't bad at all, I can't complain, especially if one only would want a certain episode instead of an entire boxed DVD season. But, I think the main reason I don't purchase content is because it's not as much of an impulse buy as shopping in the mall is. I actually have to purchase Microsoft Points, navigate to the content I want, and wait for it to download. Anyone out there a regular XBLM movie or TV show downloading whore? If so ... we'd like to hear your story.Haven't downloaded TV or movies off of the XBLM

a week ago i tried to download vforv, the download reached a whopping 2 percent and ceased i called xbox live and after 2 phone calls, i was refunded. i tried again tonight and began to watch the movie when the download was at about fifty percent, but halfway through the movie i got a message that told me that vforv could not be successfully downloaded, even tho the movie finished playing fine. they apparently still have some kinks to work out.

Last week I downloaded Posieden HD just to try it out. It took about 4 1/2 to 5 hours to complete, but was watchable after 2 1/2 hours. Not bad at all, and really good quality, though I've heard some of the old movies don't translate to HD very well.

I've done two movies- Christmas Vacation and Star Trek II - and one TV show (an episode of Venture Bros.) and I'm suitably impressed with the speed, quality, and service. You definitely need some decent broadband, but on my HDTV this looked good and the 360 played it quite silently (not the content itself, but the 360, since the optical drive wasn't spinning).
This has potential. I may skip HD-DVD if there are enough HD movies on this service.

i've grabbed a couple SD movies. they've been ready to play after about 10 minutes. the movie rental license needs to last a day or 2 longer. anyway, i loved the convenience. also picked up some TV shows. but the cost is too high, especially for 11 minute adult swim episodes. for that cost i might as well wait for the season to come out on DVD, and get the extras.

I am disapointed in that they don't offer Battlestar Galactica. I thought it would be in for sure after the 'story so far' episode was released through live, but I have no idea what the hold up is. Looks like they haven't been able to agree to something with Sci-Fi as the entire network is absent from the content selection. The moment they add that, I'll sure be downloading a lot of episodes. So yeah, for me it is not the system, as much as the selection which has kept me from getting anything yet.

Well, I have used it to watch the entire CSI: Season 6 in HD and also Season 7 up to episode 9. We dont have cable tv or an antena, we usually watch them in DVD. Anyhow.. usually it takes about 15 min for the HD video, but we would usually prep dinner so it was no real worry. And we would usually get two or three episodes at a time. And have enjoyed the experience. There was one hick up when the video stopped since the transfer rate dropped below what was buffered. It was a little annoying, but past that my wife and I have enjoyed it. Do wish we have a bigger hard drive, but overall impressed with the service, especially since its the first time its done with a gaming console. Wish there was more content. But in the end, my wife loved it and thats all what matters for me.

The only reason I haven't bought a movie yet is because I'm waiting for a GOOD movie in HD that I haven't seen yet. As for TV shows... I can catch repeats.

I already own a lot of "content".
I've never been much of a renter. I guess if you rent things, then this is as good a way to do it as any.

I'm with you on this one, Dustin. The service looks good, and the pricing isn't bad, but I'm just not in the target market for this service. I never rent movies or buy TV DVDs in the first place. I use DVR to record all my shows (Windows Media Center, so Microsoft still wins my dollar there).
Hopefully, like everything else Xbox, Microsoft will keep upgrading the video marketplace. I think Microsoft needs to make an accessory hard drive similar to the accessory HD-DVD player, because, seriously, considering that those HD movies are 5GB a piece, even PS3's "bigger" 60GB hard drive is a joke.
What I'm looking for: If they could charge a flat-rate subscription to an entire season of a television show, and have new episodes auto-download as they're posted, then I'd be sold. The same thing goes for a monthly Netflix-type subcription rental service.

I love the VMP.
I downloaded a SD movie and it looked pretty good on my HDTV + the HD movies look GREAT really shows the power of HD and its 720p.
So i think ill be passing on the HD-DVD Player for now since they are going to be coming out with alot of movies in time.
Everything is smooth except for that time with the movie not downloading me and MS charging me twice but in all its great.
And here is a tip for bypassing DRM - Found it out last night - dont know if it really works or if its just a problem or whatever.
Download the movie you want, When it gets to the point that you can play it - do so and then exit with the guide button.
Now when the movie is download ( or you can watch it while it downloads to the end GUIDE BUTTON OUT BEFORE CREDITS END ) When you want to play it again MAKE SURE YOU PRESS RESUME WHEN YOU GO TO THE MOVIE and NOT PLAY NOW
Do not press the Play Now ( after you press the play now button it will start the timer for th 24 hours expire time )
You can keep the movies for 14 days now instead of 24hours. ( from what i heard you the movie auto-deletes after 14days or something )
When you want to watch the movie again just go to resume* Never let the movie end - guide button out when at credits and you can rewind to the start again.
It worked for the movie the perfect storm so i dont see why it wont work again.
Enjoy if it works ;)

I like the idea of the video marketplace.
However, i don't want to RENT a HD movie. I'd like to OWN it, and watch it whenever I want.
Until they let you do that, the service doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I did not download any movies because I really don't like the idea of being robbed in a few days after i download it i would like to go back after 15-20 days after watching it the first time and watch it again without having to re-download it and pay for it again you know?

I'd never watched the show Veronica Mars before so I ended up watching the first show of that and becoming hooked so I bought all the episodes of that and then I wanted to try and HD movie so I rented "The Lake House" which is a pretty crappy movie and the HD wasn't all the great. Standard def doesn't really bother me and my TV can do 1080p. I've probably bought about 15 tv episodes so far.

i was really looking forward to th HD content, but there wasn't much of it. Just a handful of movies that I didn't feel like watching. 95% of the content is SD. That kinda dissapointed me.
Hopefully they will add more in the future. I hear Mission Impossible 3 is damn good in HD.

MS really needs to do something about the whole HDD situation if it wants Video Marketplace to succeed (PS3 has better support for ext HDDs). I'm not too keen about downloading, deleting, and then re-downloading TV shows just b/c I ran out of space.

I won't use this at all. Paying money for downloads and not getting hard copies will never attract me.
