The bulky Xbox 360 power brick (aka El Jefe Grande) is big by any definition. Big enough to make your puny DVD player power supply run and hide. Big enough to club a baby seal to death in a pinch. All that's missing to secure its status as the king of gargantuan AC adaptors is a big stand-alone price tag. Enter the Intec Xbox 360 Power AC Adaptor, which, for the Kong-size cost of $100 ( wall plug not included!) adds an internal cooling fan and a few LED lights to your factory power brick, without shaving an ounce off the original's famous form factor. When I first heard about this thing, I assumed Intec was charging power supply snobs a premium for a sleeker, less obtrusive unit, but who was I kidding? This baby is big 'n' beautiful, and it has a fan that supposedly makes your 360 run better. The only question: Is anyone out there a big enough sucker to actually buy it?
[Thanks Chris]

this thing looks to do no more than the standard power brick. my brick has color status lights and a built in fan. and how is it going to keep my 360 cooler when its a few feet away?

Hey, the ORIGINAL power brick has a status LED and a fan.
I can feel the air coming out of my brick right now, and I can see the dust on the intake grill. Definitely has a fan.

The original 360 power supply has a built-in fan. At $40-50 maybe, but this seems a little excessive. I'd sooner build one of these...

Does the Intec Power Brick come with its own "SUCKER" label to be applied to the purchaser's forehead?

What happens if somehow your original power brick brakes. For example I've noticed the wires starting to get a little messed up at one of the ends of the brick itself. If it were to go completely, is it possible to get another first party one from Microsoft? And if so how much do they charge?

Well I have 2 360s and only one power brick...so I was in the market for a used original one. $100 is too much for a 3rd party PSU when you can get a used original on ebay for around 70

I love how on Wal-mart's site they say "Intec Power AC Adaptor Xbox 360" and 'forget' to put in the "for" between adaptor and xbox. some scrub is gonna see the name and the pic which includes the 360, and be like "OMG xbox 360 for 99$!!!" Fuck you wal-mart, and the idiots that shop there!

That thing is huge, but if you remove the plastic, the actual power circut is the exact same size as the original xbox.
"Knock on wood", but my 360 has been fine since day one. So hopefully I will never have to spend a $100 for a power supply.

No one has mentioned that $100 is 1/3rd the cost of a core system and 1/4th the cost of the premium bundle - the far better value would be to buy a new system. I'm sure someone must have already hacked something using a PC power supply...
