Gears of War: Marketing unnecessary?
Let's face it, at this point everyone is at least curious about Gears of War. But some people ... some people are downright nuts about it. The recent trailer and its numerous remixes prove that people are really excited about this game. Seriously, these people are so excited for it that they are actually making their own commercials for it. Come on, have you ever made a commercial for anything? One could say that it's no different from wearing a Nike shirt; people are just showing their love for a certain product. Still, I'm not sure I've ever seen someone make their own Nike commercial. It's like Microsoft doesn't even have to market GOW anymore. That said, the Gears of War montage embedded above kicks ass. Bring on Emergence Day already. We're ready for it (and some are more than ready).

(Page 1)2. they need to get the word out to the general public. people who do not own 360's, who dont read every lil blog article (like i do :P). have you been in a movie theater when the GoW trailer comes on and everyone is like "whoa what was that"... that's why a mass marketing campaign is critical for this game and not just depend on people taking already released footage, put in a song, and upload it to youtube.
actually, in retrospect, i'm not even sure what the point of this article was. Yes, put me in the category of 'downright nuts' for this game!!! woo!

3. Why, exactly, is Gears of War being hyped so much? I've seen tones of footage and trailers, and I've still not hit the 'Pre-order Now!" button. We haven't even been given a demo to try yet!

4. It's pretty obvious why everyone is hyped. Read one article. Watch one gameplay video. This game is a slick, polished, perfect example of the genre.
I pre-ordered a long time ago, and don't expect to regret it.

5. You ask if advertising is even necessary. CliffyB said a while back that he's never been satisfied with how his games were publicized but he was hopeful that microsoft could deliver. So I say that when it gets to the point where you ask why the game even needs publicity then you know it has truly been marketed well.
Cliffyb should be plenty content right now.

1. I think it was well edited but the ass rock was horrible. Stick to the game's great orchestral soundtrack. I can’t wait for emergence week though.
