TGS: Lost Planet and Viva Piñata video
We know, it's been a slow couple of days if you don't like RPGs, and even though X360F is the one that brought you videos of all this turn based crap, we feel your pain. As such, we'd like to make amends with not one, but two videos of games that don't star doe-eyed pixie people with spiky hair. The first is a very long video of Viva Piñata that you can see above. The second video -- one we imagine is more interesting to action fans -- is of Lost Planet. Make sure you watch for the multiplayer madness at the end.
Let's never fight again, okay?

I feel like I'm the only person out there who wasn't impressed at all by Lost planet.
don't get me wrong, graphically, the game was a sight to behold.
but the game it's self? you know... we've had enough shooting games with bone-headed AI, what the hell makes capcom think we can suffer another one.
also, there is just something truly archaic about the game. going up against constantly respawning bugs with glowing yellow weak spots? grabbing little red orbs to replenish your... heat?
Can we please evolve a little beyond the "powerup" & "shoot the weak spot 3 times" generation?

I found the demo ok... but I wasn't planning on picking the game. I must admit tho, after seeing this video my mind is changing. The trailer was very well done.
oh, and I am talking about lost planet... not viva pineapple ;)

I liked the demo personally, the boss fights were mega-fun, but wasn't fully convinced it would be my cup of tea if it was (as the first poster said) the same stuff we have been playing for years. The recent videos have gone some way to putting that fear to rest. The quality is also excellent.

Aragorn - "Can we please evolve a little beyond the "powerup" & "shoot the weak spot 3 times" generation?"
Can we please evolve a little beyond the "Turn-Based bullshit JRPGs" Generation?
Seriously. If you think Lost Planet has "Old-Skool" gameplay, watch the trailer for Lost Oddysee.

Frank West - Couldn't agree with you more.
the difference here is that the JRPG is something that's nearly exclussive to the japanese audience.
Lost Planet is Capcom trying to appeal to the american audience.
"I know... lets make a run of the mill shooter. stupid americans love shooters"

I like the demo but figured I wouldnt get this game because most shooters are boring once beaten, but that multiplayer looks amazing. That right there may have sold me.

If they tighten up the controls on Lost Planet this game will be awesome. I'm more excited about this than GoW, only because I've played the demo for Lost Planet.

Lost Planet looks good. Kinda like SOCOM with monsters. I'll be trying it out tonight when I hang out at my friends place (no internet right here at the moment).
But what I wanted to post about was Viva Pinata. It's very intruiging and I'll definetly give it a rent when it comes out. However, doesn't all that gameplay look a little bit confusing for a 6-12 year old?

What's with all the Lost Planet hate? This isn't "just another shooter". And where do your baseless opinions come from? A 6 month old demo that was a technical masterpiece? A game trailer? If you played the demo and weren't mesmerized, then you're either dead, or you just didn't give the game a chance.
This game has incredible action, amazing animation, a smooth as butter framerate, I mean, if you don't like Lost Planet, you probably don't like 95% of all games.. in which case you shouldn't be gaming.

You tell em killr0y I agree with all of that. The game is of topnotch quality and is amazing to play. The only thing I dislike is picking up the thermal energy. That's mainly just because I think that it pulls away from the action when you have to run around trying to collect it before you die.

I played the demo and didn't like it. but, i played it again sometime after that out of boredom and kinda got a feel for it. now i find myself playing it all the time. i was at the point where i looked at it as one of those games that's fun but id never actually buy. but it's like every glimpse of this game makes it more appealing. im actually considering buying it now.
and i agree with whoever said ti earlier; this trailer was really well made

The problem isn't lost planet its just that people have a steriotype of what shooters are and lp falls in that group. Although what is wrong with that logic is that these people arent looking at the game by itself. Psychonauts - Side Scroller but there is a lot more there than a two words on a facts sheet. Stop steriotyping art because everything is different in some way
