Midway announced today that Unreal Tournament 2007 will be delayed until...um...2007. That in itself is no big deal. The big part of the news is contained in this snippet from the press release:
"The next gen version(s) have yet to be tagged with an exact ship date yet"
The parenthetical "S" says it all. Not version, versions, folks. When asked directly whether or not this confirmed the oft-rumored development of a 360 version of UT 2007, an
"Nothing is yet confirmed ... [but] I would say that your assumption is relatively plausible"
Sounds like a yes to me.

Update 1: Midway spokesman, not Atari. D'oh!

I really hope so. I love the UT series and I would hate not to be able to play it on my Xbox 360. If they do not do a 360 version than I guess I'll miss this version because there is no way I have the cash for a PS3 or a PC to play it.

This is assasins Creed all over again. Apparantly the new trend in gaming is not console exclusivity but rather information exclusivity until the game is in fact released (for all consoles invovled). Poor Sony...

Nice but I really want to use a mouse and keyboard with this one. In a twitch shooter like UT I wouldn't have anything else.

LOL you guys miss the fact it isnt a "when its released we will say" ... the fact is its an X06 announcement.,.... lets just say X06 is going to be HUGE this year, i anticipate assassin's creed, ut2007, and a few others
also tgs i'd love to hear FFXIII for 360 but then again maybe thats more hoping than the rest.... lol
But as for UT2007 its coming look ate the teamxbox info from the latest posts they made about it "we cant say anything lets just say their is a reason we're still talking about this game" LOL could they be more obvious :)

I know Epic used to be published by Atari but why would an Atari spokesman know anything about a game being published by Midway? Especially 2 years after their contract had ended.

Officially Delaying UT '07 to 2007 isn't that big of a deal to people for a few reasons, one, most people by now knew that UT 2007 was either coming late this year or sometime next year, two , with blockbuster games such as Gears of War coming out it was kind of brushed off to the side of gaming media's spotlight, Now the real question I have is not if Unreal Tournament 2007 is coming to the 360 or not , my real question,is there going to be a new Unreal Championship game?

Another stab in the back to Sony. PS3 owners enjoy your Final Fantasy 75 or whatever and also..... well enjoy Final Fantasy. You can take pride in being the only one who can play LOL.

Figured this one, they announced this would be on Xbox 360 quite some time ago, then it was presumably not coming out for Xbox 360, now this shows it more than likely is. But with all the Unreal Championship games on Xbox, I doubt Epic would want to cut the Xbox 360 short of a Unreal game. I will definitely check out this game if it does come out on Xbox 360.
This is one thing I noticed, the PS3 exclusives seem to be dropping by the day. I think this is primary due to the difficulty of developing on the system. This seems like its becoming a repeat of the Sega Saturn...

I think it has more to do with consoles on the market. The 360 will be the largest target audience for a while. Sony's exhorbant price will assure slow adoption after initial launch sales cool.

The 360 - 1/10th the price of the PC, and more fiancé-friendly :)
Not surprised about this at all, in any way shape or form however i hope they if they implement Live Anywhere in this that you can turn it off..
Don't fancy going up against old-clanmates on my pad vs their n52s and 12" turn mouse accuracy, at least not all the time.

Developers aren't going to be able to avoid producing games for both consoles, the production costs for these next gen games is crazy expensive so they'll need to release they're titles on both platforms to try and make a profit.

because everyone knows that ghost recon and call of duty 2 looked better on the pc.
As for the exclusive games, I think that once the ps3 sales pick up, it will get more exclusive games. the 360 already has about 20 exclusives, more if you count the pc 360 only games (shadowrun, condemned, f.e.a.r, etc.)
