Admit it, girls with swords are awesome

While typing up the post on the new Saints Row video, I stumbled across some Famitsu images of the Japanese game, Oneechanbara X. That's the hero character over on the right: a girl wearing panties, a straw hat, a katana, and what looks like a feather boa. Famitsu was kind enough to print an English translation of Oneechanbara X, which reads "The Devil Evolution Human." Hopefully, when and if this title makes it to the states, publisher D3 will give it a more fitting title. Allow me to suggest one: "The Adventures of Panty Samurai: Escape from Thong Mountain."

If a half naked chick with a sword can't move 360s in Japan, what can?

1. ***Laughs**

The Japanese don't like hot virtual chicks wearing next to nothing with a sword.

They like Metro guys with Spiky hair like Cloud or Tidus.

2. If you want a machine that will sell in Japan, make a really gay RPG with dragons and weird armor. Make sure the game has text, no voices. And the graphics have to suck! Don't forget that. Now I just described 60% of the games on PS2. That's why I stick with Xbox.

6. Apparently it's just a zombie chopping up game.

7. #1....LOL! I don't know about %60 of the games, but that's pretty damn funny. I don't play PS2 much because the games don't have much for replay value, and I really hate the analog sticks on the controller. But I can't deny my needs for FF and Xenosaga.

P.S. You did forget that those RPGs need guys that look like chicks. ;)

8. One of the most amazing things about those scans is the first one with the "Age, Weight, Measurements, and Birthday" listings for Aya, the main character. (Bottom right) Does that info actually sell games in Japan?

Why, I ask you? Why?

9. "Apparently it's just a zombie chopping up game."

WHA?????

So you play as a half naked, hot, ninja chick and you kill zombies. All they need is demons and Nazis and this would be the greatest game ever made!

10. Ryan, dont forget Pirates... you have to have pirates.

11. Did anyone else notice the small detail concerning her bikini bottoms? Either I'm reading too much into this image or that's her hotbox shining thru and we're in dark patch heaven.

12. It doesn't take much to make your protagonist both a ninja AND a pirate. Just add the heart shaped eyepatch.

Posted at 4:55PM on Jul 19th 2006 by J.Goodwin

13. Yes,

The game needs ninja pirates. Wrapped in bacon. And set on fire. Then it would be complete.

14. Ummm... Oneechanbara doesn't actually translate as "The Devil Evolution Human." It is a play on words. Oneechan is an affectionate way to say "older sister" and chanbara is sport fighting. Games over here (I live in Tokyo) always list the main characters' vital stats including blood type. The blood type bit had me confused till I found out they use blood types the same way people back in North America use zodiac signs. They indicate the character's personality. Wierd crap. Been here 8 years and this kind of stuff never ceases to amaze me.

15. In regards to the question about her stats listed - - I DID actually read a book at one point (can't remember the title) about Japanese sub-cultures...apparently there are certain kinds of gamers or otaku or whatever who collect stats on AV stars, idols, even game characters and Gundam. They'll have height, weight, cup size, etc. etc. Weird but true!

/don't know how you can't like this game
//it's a half-naked woman with a samurai sword for christ's sake
///and it has zombies :)

17. Actually, the last line about this news should have read: "If a half naked chick with a sword can't move 360s in Japan, NOTHING WILL.
