Xbox 360 releases for the week of June 12th

MotoGP

Kind of slow on the Xbox 360 game releases, but we will be seeing a couple of new ones over the summer.  This week, just one to get "revved" up about, Moto GP 2006. So, if you are looking for some fast thrills, this is the only official game of the MotoGP Championship on Xbox. And it sure does look pretty.

2. The fact that we're only going to be seeing a couple of new games for this system this summer is a crime. the demo for Moto GP is pretty awful in my opinion.

C'mon developers! Get those games out!

3. I concur. The demo was awful (at least the one found on the OXM disc). The multiplayer didn't even work for me. Anyone who has breezed thru the launch lineup should look at Hitman Blood Money.

4. Hopefully XBLA will help with the slow release schedule. I'm still waiting for Hoopworld! n_n

6. I just added this baby to my rental queue.

I thought the demo was great, what did you guys dislike about it?

Online worked fine for me, but I DL'd it. Didn't try the OXM one.

7. Picked up my pre-ordered copy of MotoGP '06 today. What can I say, it shows some improvement in the tracks (elevation changes, camber in turns, overall feel) and the bikes feel better (sensation of speed, pulling hard like they really do), but graphically it is a shame. It stutters and tears all over the place and the track detail is ugly and jagged outside of a small circle around the bike. It lags going around some turns, even when you are in first place with no other bikes on the screen. The bike cockpit is nothing more than a non-functional overcompressed texture, very lame. The bike appears to be floating with both wheels not contacting the ground when viewed from the side in parts of the replays.

The loading times are insane; I'm soo sick of that screen.

The extreme mode is a waste of developer time and it shows in the fit and polish of the rest of the game. Who cares about generic unlicensed bikes on generic courses, that is such a hack. I paid (too much money in hindsight) for a MotoGP game, not some smalltime generic bike game. Even little things are overlooked, like when you change your controls, all of the prescripted 'training' still references the default config (granted this has been a problem in almost all games, and the motogp series from the start).

I wish they would have given us backwards compatibility with the original xbox version of MotoGP2/3 and spent more time on MotoGP '07, instead of releasing what feels like an unrefined port of a poorly implemented PC game.

Dear THQ: Buy a copy of Tourist Trophy for the PS2. Pay attention to the details and learn! Lose the extreme mode and focus on MotoGP. If you insist on extreme mode, take a look at Test Drive Unlimited and how they are licensing real bikes. Generic is bad mmm'kay, it feels small time and cheap, a hack at best. Also, if you need to, hire a team that understands the 360 and 720p, make the game perform more 'next gen' and less like a port. I want a partial refund for an unfinished product.

If only the PS2/3 had proper triggers like the xbox, then they would be viable for racing games, until then it seems like we have to settle for this crap.

Bleh, more 360, less xbox 2.0 please.
