Despite the notoriously ugly women and quirky glitches, Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will go down in history as the fastest selling Xbox 360 game to date. Peddling to the tune of 1.7 million units since launch, the title has acquired an incredible market share and even spoke up for 13% of the total PC games sold that week. Just like the allure David Hasselhoff, Oblivion has even managed to become an international hit, having traveled over seas and broken records in the UK, Germany and France.
The game has also been received with open arms, as almost all of the reviews can testify. Metacritic reports a solid score describing "Universal Acclaim" for Oblivion and we haven't heard many other bad reports either. Next-gen RPG makers definitely have a yardstick to try and measure up to now. If you haven't had the opportunity to play this game yet, then what are you waiting for?

What am I waiting for? I'm waiting for the game to not cost 60 bucks. But that's all, because the game is freaking awesome.
It was very hard to take back to Blockbuster.

ummm, money to actually buy the game? I hope to get it this week tho (putting aside $1000 for the X360 wasn't enough).

You people that say it is unplayable on 360 are a joke. It runs just fine on 360.

I have to say, I haven't been this much into a game in a long time and I am a Nintendo Fanboy, but this game just keeps bringing me back and I don't want to play anythign else.
Sometimes I spent 3 hours just doing all the random things that have nothing to do with the main game. I think I have 15 hours on it and only did 3 main missions.

I'm waiting for it to hit the bargain bin. Although I'm sure it's a great game, it'll be the same great game in 6 months. Nothing is going to change in the gameplay. This is how I approach almost all games that don't have an online aspect. Far Cry/ GRAW are worth the 60 beans b/c everyone is playing them now. By the time they hit the bargain bin, the online aspect will be dead. Everyone will be playing Gears of War/Rainbox 6/ Halo 3 or whatever the next hot title will be. I say this knowing full well I can't wait to raid me some Tombs!!!

This game is very playable on the XBox360. I've played over 52 hours so far since I got it on release day. However, there are serious bugs in it. It does seem to lockup and freeze a bit. In one instance, I had a thief guild guy steal something I put on the ground so he got arrested but since he was a main charcter (a doyen) it caused the game to lockup when it happened. There are other quests where an NPC escapes being killed when he was supposed to die by another NPC and it locks up as well. This is more than XBox360 though. These are true game issues that probably occur regardless of the platform and are hopefully fixed by the patch. It does has some issues with menu slowdown after playing for a long time or when areas that are dynamically loading are too close together and causes too much loading which slows the system down.
I still love the crap out of this game. It's well worth $60. Hell, I've only done the first two parts of the questline and so far the price only rings in at $1/hour. Everything I've done so far is the guild/arena questlines. Find me something else that is entertaining and costs only $1/hour. The only thing possibly cheaper than that is free internet porn.

Yes, I have spent some time on this game. I'm about 20 hours into it and I still haven't really followed the main quest yet. I love this game, I honesty do. For me it was well worth the cash 'ola spent.

Well, DUH, it's the only relatively good game worth buying. When are the truly good games coming out anyway? You know, those made in Japan.

If you're not wanting to pony up the $60 for (Like me) just yet, you can always get a Gamefly account and rent it that way.. you can keep it as long as you want, then pay their used price for it, which is about $47.

You will be waiting WAY longer than 6 months for it to hit the "bargain bin". This is the flagship game for the 360 so far and for at least a year it will retail for full price.
It's worth the $60, pick it up!!

Actually it sold 1.7 million, including PC game sales. It at least sold over 250,000 though because that is what ghost recon did and it was said to be the best selling so far.

What i'm I waiting for... well I'm waiting for BF2 to come out because I can't stop playing the demo, I love the game, and i've never really been much of a role playing game type of person... like all those people who play Zelda and stuff like that.. so I'm waiting to rent it first... then get it maybe when it hits the bargin bins in 2007 if it's really all that good.
But BF2 (battlefield 2) oh my god I love that game on 360 so far the demo is just too much fun. The game should live up to the hype and that's my $60 for this month, I just bought Ghost Recon last month and FightNight 3 month before that.
Got to try and control my addiction... Too many $60 dollar withdawls in a month is never good when saving for a PS3 with extra controllers and 4 must have games on launch.... LoL
And who knows what that thing is going to cost.
