EA has launched the official website for their latest attempt at "the world's most popular sport," FIFA World Cup 2006. If you're getting a sense of digital deja vu, it might be because FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup launched along side the 360 a scant four months ago to middling reviews. This game is supposed to have more stadiums, better animations and a "Best World Cup moments" mode. We'll see if five extra months in EA Canada's backfield results in a world class Cup, or just another kick in the balls for next-gen soccer fans.

I am one of those schmoes who bought the road to world cup title. As a football (soccer) nut I was pretty psyched for soccer on the 360. That game is awful and no they admit it by doing this. They should have a swap out program for unfortunates like me who have always been loyal to the franchise but got badly burned with this last game. But, EA SPorts couldn't care less about that, could they? They already got my $50 and I imagine they are confident of getting it again.

I really did like FIFA RTWC. Sure it didnt play as well as Winning Eleven, but it still was a pretty good game. The commentator, Martin Tyler made the game that much better too. Unfortunately though, they've replaced him with someone else. I still may pick up World Cup, but i'm not sure yet.
