CoD2 patch leaker canned by IWN

An update to my previous post on the Call of Duty 2 patch debacle: Tally, the brave source who leaked info on the reasons behind the the patch delay won't be hearing the call to duty any more. He has since been relieved of his status as a moderator at Infinity Ward Nation, "the official Infinity Ward forum":

"We've (Admins) discussed the current situation on IWNation.com. We all agreed that we would do best to remove Tally from moderator status here on IWNation.com.

The current problems and situation had reached it's top, and it's causing us a bad reputation. We've had to deal with many problems in the past, so this was something we could definately not use. Plus, we did not like the way the 'patch-topic' was posted.

We reckon this measure was not a simple one, but we hope it's for the best. Tally, we wish you the best in the future, and are looking forward to play with you on the online battlefields.

- Major Pain
On behalf of the Admin team."

Should Tally have expected this kind of response from his fair weather forum friends?

[Thanks, Curry]

When I first read this I actually laughed out loud (LoL). Rude? Sorry. I find it funny that 10 minutes after reading about the COD2 patch and the theories about it, the guy with the theories gets "canned". I don't think this was very fair because it wasn't actual hard data you were giving to the world. Just harmless estimates. Those IGN guys need to chill out and take a vacation or something.

Pretty stupid thing by IW...
"The current problems and situation had reached it's top, and it's causing us a bad reputation"

His post isn't giving you a bad rep, you not updating the game or simply creating a game that would need to be patched is what gave you bad rep.

I read his post and I really don't see anything wrong with it, he spoke the truth. I think the IW people need to work on the patches instead of worrying about whats going on in their forums.

Just another example of how childish people can be. I suspect his intimation that game was incomplete ired his fellows, or perhaps their leash holders.

PS: IWN you are dinks. Nothing said here is inflammatory. It was actually somewhat nice to get some real info instead of the same bull you insist we eat. I'm a grown boy and I like hearing the truth, thank you. It makes me think perhaps you respect me enough to make my own opinions.

Damn, that's true. Hear nothing, say nothing, do nothing ... at least you could treat us as cutomers. We're the guys spending hard earned money for your products, at least we could expect honest intel on upcoming patches. Since I got GRAW I gonna sell COD2 most happily. I don't care anymore, IWM you blew it.

IW didn't can Tally. The Admins at IWnation did. The forums there are not run by IW, and the mods are not employed by IW. My guess is that IW complained to the admins of IWnation and they decided to let him ago. Its pretty stupid, because that just about proves what he said was true, instead of what it appeared to be: Speculation.

yea what bad form IW has, they put out a haft ass product (to call call of duty a complete WW2 experience is pushing it), then punish the only person on the entire staff to do anything to help out the 500,000 plus people that were forced to buy this game only because it was the only thing that "looked" next gen.

#3 is on the money again if you didnt put out a game that only lets me play with 7 other people (poorly at best) and instead of skipping ahead to the next hack of a game call of duty: modern warfare and leaving the 500k plus gamers that bought your stupid game on launch day in the lurch. And fixing what you couldnt get right the first time

It sucks the most because it makes IW think there did good, they sell 500k copies. right?

but when you put out such a half ass game just to sell consoles and because its either play COD2 or Halo 2 i can't wait for more good well designed games come out, it will force the likes of Sega(full auto) and IW(Crap of Duty) to innovate and improve or die.

Thanks Ubisoft for pushing the rest of your competitors because if we left it up to Infinity ward Ill sit be playing Geometry Wars waiting for the first great FPS on the 360 because COD2 wasn't it.

Sorry Guys you dropped the ball.
Anyone want a slighty used copy of Call of Duty 2?

When I read the original entry, containing the guy's post, I had one thought and one thought only...

"He's going to get fired."

While I thought IW employed him, still he did go there, speak to them, and they confided in him. Whether WE want the info or not is really irrelevant. The real question is this:

Did he betray the trust of the people he spoke to?

Knowing the way the industry works (ie secretive and protective of intellection property), I'd bet that whoever he talked to expected it to stay within the company(ies). And, really, as someone IN the industry, HE should have known this would happen.
