1. To achieve better overall cooling for the Xbox.
2. Make a unit that can be replicated with fairly common components, without spending a fortune.
3. Clean, professional installation. No ghetto installation, no use of epoxy to attach a crappy homemade water block, and no zip ties or wire and bubblegum tricks.
4. Leave the Xbox without any permanent alterations so that it may be easily returned to its original condition.
And don't forget, this mod can be completed using off the shelf parts that anyone can buy.

Then try playing it-
J/k, the 360 doesn't actually get as hot as a reactor ;)

I can't see myself doing that any time soon. I'm more than happy to read people doing it on blogs.

I have yet to meet an actual person who has had a heating/scratching problem with the 360. Our office got 22 Xbox 360s at launch and not one has had a problem. Nor have any of the units bought locally. If this problem is as bad as some people are claiming... (ONE IN FOUR BURSTS INTO FLAMES!11!!! RECALL!!! EVERY DISK GET SCRATCHED!!!) statistically we would have had at least two to four problem units. And yet all of them are working perfectly. I'm thinking all the people with "problem" units are just mad because they don't own one yet.

I've done something equally as absurd. I took the V6 engine out of my car and strapped it to my lawnmower.
All these reports of overheating are nothing more than "me-too" articles. Obviously, these guys have nothing else better to write about and just want to get in on the action while its "news." I wish they would get on with it cuz they haven't proven any of the alleged defects and most importantly, its getting tired.
While playing my X360 it barely gets warm, doesn't scratch disc, murders, robs, or anything of that nature. It runs fine so I really don't see myself doing mods. I'll enjoy watching dumbasses try this stuff just ruin their product then cry to MS about the X360 having faults. Somebody will do it.

I play my 360 quite aggresively (I had 2 weeks off work!), and it's barely gotten warmer than "cool to the touch"
...same thing with the power supply

My family started using the 360 on Christmas day like so many others. We purchased Need For Speed and Basketball NBA 2K6. The game locks often and I have attributed this to an overheating problem, however it only locks during play of NFS the basketball game has not frozen the system.
So does the NFS somehow overwork the system and cause the heating problem?
I know it is frustrating and detracts from the overall experience that I would rate at unequaled at this point.
