wired for me, i only have a 802.11b wireless network works fine for surfing the net on my laptops or pda, but for streaming the WMV HD videos from my MCE i am using good old school eithernet
I would love wireless, but I dont exactly know which cheap and good 3rd party adapters to buy and theres no way in hell im paying the asking price from microsoft for the official 360 or xbox 1 adapter.
Heh, none of the above. I connect it to my laptop and use my wifi connection from the other side of the house. :D Of course if mine failed I could just pick one of my neighbors networks, lol.
Like nubmer 5 I'm hooking mine up to my computer and using my computer's wifi. But I'm thinking of picking up one of those fancy official Xbox 360 wireless adapters.
I use a wireless G bridge for my 360, xbox, PS2 and Tivo (and PS3 and Revo when they come out). The new homeplug is tempting as a replacement - now THAT'S some bandwidth! Two adapters cost about the same as that bridge, too.
Is it possible to use a regular USB wifi adapter and hook it up to the 360? Is anyone doing this and if so, could you post what brand hardware you're using?
The price for the 360 adapter is nuts...even if it is a/b/g...still too much.
Chappy, the old Xbox wireless adapter connected through the ethernet port and it works great with the Xbox 360 in the same way. Just plug it in the wall and into the ethernet port and it starts right up!

Don't have a 360 yet, but when I do I plan on using a linksys wrt54g as a wireless network bridge. If you look you can usually find one for around 50 bucks. See howto:

My wireless router (WRT54G) is in my upstairs office above my living room. I had been using a linksys wireless-B game adapter for my old xbox but when I tried it with my new 360 it would work great and then drop the connection about every 4-5 minutes. VERY anoying. I finally splurged and got the microsoft adapter. Yes, it is enormously overpriced, however, it does have some nice features and works very reliably well. You can actually see a wireless signal strength meter icon from your dashboard as well as ip info and the adapter is attatched to the box and powered by the rear usb port so there are no additional power or ethernet cables. That may not matter to those of you who will never move your box, but seperate gaming adapters can be a pain when you're at a buddy's house for a LAN party. You can also select diferent SSIDs from the box and enter WEP keys with the controller or any usb keyboard. I still wish they had just built in the WiFi but I have no complaints with the microsoft adapter other than the price.
WTF... I must've been really confused... I thought the XBox 360 supported Wifi out of the box? I thought the Wifi adapter was similar to the Nintendo Wifi adapter in that it was something you hook into your computer to allow your Xbox to connect... the fact that it's not is... really disappointing. Wow.

all portable devices = WiFi

I agree with #10 - The price is nuts; I have an Xbox 1 and I used a linksys wireless access point, which, BYW, doesn't seem to work with the 360.
99 bucks for a wireless access point?!? Please!!!
